Download the latest izifolio version (rar archive). If you running a (local) webserver, extract these files to the documents
folder of your webserver.
If you don't run a local a webserver, consider to install one like a wamp server which is free. It might save your time.
Otherwise extract the files to a location of your harddisk. For personalize see the content section below.
Determine your 'private' folder of your local or hosted server. This is a folder outside the 'www' or documents root folder.
If you're not sure, contact your hoster.
Place or upload the content of the 'www' folder in the document root or 'www' folder of your local server or hoster.
Place the content of the 'private' folder in the 'private' or other secured folder of you local server or hoster.
Placing this file in the 'www' or documents root folder is a risk of violating privacy information of newsletter subscribers.
If you are in the situation you have not contracted a webhoster, choose a hoster which runs php 5.x (almost every hoster) with
the exif extension enabled. If you already contracted one and the exif extension is not enabled contact your hoster and ask
friendly to do so. The exif extension must be enabled. You can determine the extension if you make a php webpage and put
<?php phpinfo(); ?> in it. Nothing else. Save it and view it.
After uploading to your webserver, set write permissions to the content, images, news and private folder.
If you have difficulties with above consider to outsource this job to a professionel.
Configuration
When first time install you can logon with 'Admin' with the password '123456'. After a cuccesful login you wil
find three more menu options. First you go to 'config'. It's very important that you change the Admin's password because it's a default
password. It's even better to add a new account (you better test these accouont first) and than delete the Admin's account.
All the configurations described below you can change with this form. With the two extra menu options 'admin-images' and 'admin-news' you can
manage your photo-library or news section.
Enviroment
Error handling
Default is E_NOTICE. The E_ERROR value is for development only. Some webserver set this to E_ERORR which results in display warnings.
Private path
This is the folder outside the www folder. For example if the private folder is on the same level as the www folder, you should enter the
relative path from the www folder, in this case ../private.
This is where Izifolio stores the file which contains the information of news subscribers which is a safe location.
BBClone statistics
For statistics Izifolio recommends the use of BBClone. Must be installed in the default bbclone folder.
If BBClone is installed you can enable this option.
Security
Blacklisted Ip-adresses
Add here suspected ip-adresses (for example you receive spam mail thru contactform at the same time you see the ip-adres in your webseervers
log-file or bbclone). The ip-adresses cannot access your website anymore and see only a white screen with the text
"You're blacklisted!!!"
Administrators
Add more administrators who have permission to login with these credentials. We recommend to add a administrator and a
safely chosen password and delete the Administrator account. At least modify the password of the Administrator!
The codes you see is a encrypted password code, if you modify just type over it and click modify.

Files content administration
Files
A view of the content folder. You can rename or delete files. Deleted files cannot be retrieved!.
Upload
Can here upload files from your computer to the content folder.
Preparing your images before uploading
Before you upload images they will need some treatment. It's off course possible to upload your pictures direct from your camera
but you have keep in mind that the size of the pictures remains and has as result that when the user clicks on a image it will
take more time when the user see it on the browser. Also the title and description is not set. And of course you will reach the
available ammount of disk space of your webhoster soon.
It's imported to reduce the size of your pictues with the best quality and keep yout exif data. This means also the built-in thumbnail
(yes there's a built-in thumbnail in each exif-header of your pictures). Recomended filesize of the picture is with current bandwith less
than 300 KBytes but less than 200 KBytes is better. I suggest reduce the screen size to 1024x768 or 768x512 to achieve this goal.
Before resizing your images (also for archiving) you must tag your pictures with additional exif information.
The title and description information Izifolio use from the picture is extracted from the IPTC
fields Title (2#105) and Description (2#120). If they are not set, your pictures will be tagged in Izifolio as
No Title and No decription available.
The best program to do all this jobs are products from Adobe but on the
Sourceforge website is plenty opensource (free) software available which does the job the same and even in batch. I do recomend that if
you test new software, copy your images to your hard drive first and not experiment on the memorycard itself.
Next sections is information for experienced users or webdesigners and can be skipped.
Folders
The root
These are the core files, keep out and don't change them. Except with Izifolio updates.
Content
This is where your personal pages and therefore your configuration file (config.inc.php) is stored. For upgrade you MUST
not replace this folder, except in some cases of major upgrades where the config.inc.php is involved.
There are some files like header.inc.php, footer.inc.php. Here you can designing your header and footer area. Also there are
some files like index.inc.php. Here you can personalize your homepage. You don't need to concern about body, meta, title or any
other tags. Just look the sample and put your text (or images) in the file and folder. The only important thing is that all
webdocuments are defined as strict html.
It's important to give modify permissions to the config.inc.php file. Also add permissions to the content folder. You
can in most ftp client mouse-right-click on the content folder to adjust permission. On most webservers based on linux systems full
permission is presented by 777.
Images
This is the folder containing other folders with your images. The submaps are displayed as 'catalogs' (ex. 'people', 'landscapes').
There must be at least one submap and each submap must containing at least on picture. Maps beginning with a prefix '_' (first
character underscore) is hidden from the list in the page. Can be used to send a relative a link which you don't want to be
visible in the catalog list on your website.
Only jpg images are allowed and you must remain the exif data which include the thumb. Ther are some programs which reduce size
of your images by removing the thumb or exif data, do not use them. Instead increase your hosting capacity.
Consider the filesize of your images result the display time of the user when clicking it. Try not exceed to 300k.
It's important to give add/modify permissions to the images folder. You can in most ftp client mouse-right-click
on the images folder to adjust permission. On most webservers based on linux systems full permission is presented by 777.
News
In this folder you can upload your *.txt files with news. The files may contain html code like image tags. Because the website
is written in strict html it's necessary to comply the standards if you use them. That means use the / at the end of the img tag
and use the alt parameters.
It's not necessary to use breaks in the text files, they will addes automaticly.
It's important to give add/modify permissions to the news folder. You can in most ftp client mouse-right-click
on the news folder to adjust permission. On most webservers based on linux systems full permission is presented by 777.
Skins
In this folder you can put your downloaded skins which are selected with Skin in the config.inc.php.
You can also copy the default skin and alter it with a diffrent name. If you want to contribute to this project with new skins, you're
welcome. Skins could be available in a seperate download section in the future.
Extra
In the 'content' folder you will find a file called 'config.inc.php'. You can open this with notepad, however a enhanced editor is
recomended. All information about the vars are in comments but i will discuss briefly a few.
Very important is the $private_path. Some hosting providers made a folder outside the 'www' you could use for very secured files.
Define the relative path from the 'www' folder.
Izifolio recomends use of BBClone for statistics. You can download it from
BBClone. Setting this on TRUE will automaticly turning on statistics, you don't have to add
script files in your pages.
The $website array contains your metadata.
The navigation bar is configured by the $menu array, if you don't want the 'news' or other page, just delete the line. You can change
the words in the first column, the description (mouseover) in the 3rd column.
You need the $amenu array for administrating your website. Better leave this unchanged.
You can choose the skin of the website by selecting on of the foldernames under the folder 'skins' and use it with $skin.
Depending on the skin you may alter the $total_picturesview (depending how many columns).
You can switch on or off some meta data displayed under each photo with the $display array.
If you're a experienced user you could set the $datemodus automaticly by your browser (sample) or by a ip-adres region
function.
Very important is to obtain a api key from Google for each domain
you use. The use of a api key is free, you will probably need a Google acount (also free).
The $license array is optional to show your users if you are a dontaor or contributer.
